Checking/testing gas fired appliance manifold pressure is an integral part of service, maintenance and unit start up for optimal performance.  It could be the difference between a properly functioning system to a potentially pre-mature failure of a heat exchanger and more...Under fired or over fired appliances like furnaces, boilers, and package rooftop units could have varying symptoms, although that is for a different post.  The video below focuses on how to test gas manifold pressure with bonus footage of checking the negative heat exchanger pressure needed to close the pressure switch.  Always use the manufacturer info to determine what manifold pressure to set your appliance to.
